Season 2 of Ethan Hawke's The Lowdown Discussed by Creator After Emotional Finale

“I’ve thought about many seasons of this show.” Sterlin Harjo, creator of The Lowdown, shares a candid outlook on a potential second season. The crime drama, starring four-time Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon, premiered on FX in September and is streaming on Hulu.

Harcke portrays Lee, who calls himself a “truthstorian” dedicated to exposing corruption in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which places him in conflict with powerful figures. The neo-noir series is Harjo’s follow-up to FX’s Emmy-nominated Reservation Dogs. Both shows have been critically acclaimed, with The Lowdown holding a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 44 positive reviews and a single negative critique.

The strong reception has sparked curiosity about the show's future. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter after the season 1 finale, Harjo addressed the possibility of another season. Although FX has not confirmed a renewal, he shared insights on future plans, including highlighting some breakout supporting characters.

“I mean, I’ve thought about many seasons of this show. I’ve thought about other projects — there was always an idea of going deeper into Oklahoma and some of these relationships that Lee has made in the first season. And you look at your show and see how people are responding.”
